Why we built it

Maritime cyber, without the maritime cyber tax.

The tools we kept seeing on customer ships were either an enterprise EDR retrofitted for the bridge, or a heavy on-board appliance that took a port-call to install and a service contract to maintain. Neither one was honest about the fleet operator's constraints — the VSAT bill, the lean crew, the next class-society survey, the next charterer audit.

Navis Arca is the platform we'd want if we were running the fleet ourselves. Software-only on the vessel, cloud-native on shore, and engineered around the actual frameworks operators are scored against.

Every roadmap call, every pricing decision, every architecture choice gets weighed against these. They're how we say "no" to features that would make the platform worse for the fleet operator, even when they'd be easier to sell.

No on-board hardware. Ever.

The single biggest source of friction in maritime cyber. We chose a software-only architecture so a new vessel can be protected on the same day it's enrolled.

Bandwidth is sacred.

Every byte the agent sends has to earn its place. Sub-MB per device per day is the budget. If a feature can't fit, it doesn't ship.

Compliance is operational, not theatrical.

Coverage PDFs aren't marketing — they're the artefact a class society actually takes away. We build them like the inspector is sitting next to us.

Audit trails are a customer feature, not a customer cost.

Cryptographically chained audit is included on every plan. Insurance, surveys and incident review all need it — there's no fleet plan that doesn't.

Every alert ships with a fix.

An alert without a remediation is a bill for someone else's research. We pair every finding with the vendor-published action your crew can take.
